Role overview
QBE Insurance is hiring experienced Case Managers to join its Workers’ Compensation Nominal Insurer team. The position is based in Lismore, New South Wales, with options also mentioned for Parramatta or Newcastle. This is a permanent, full-time role with a hybrid setup that combines office work and working from home.
In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of workers’ compensation claims and provide an empathetic, high-quality experience for injured workers. You will work closely with employers, treatment providers, rehabilitation partners, and internal teams to support safe, sustainable, and timely return-to-work outcomes.

Key responsibilities
- Handle a portfolio of workers’ compensation claims within the Nominal Insurer scheme and ensure outcomes are prompt, compliant, and effective for injured workers and employers.
- Use knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation and guidelines to assess liability, coordinate treatment, and support safe return-to-work outcomes.
- Partner with employers, injured workers, treating practitioners, rehabilitation providers, and internal stakeholders to deliver proactive, customer-focused claims management.
- Keep claim files accurate and compliant, meeting regulatory, contractual, and audit standards.
- Support continuous improvement by spotting opportunities to simplify processes and improve service delivery.
- Contribute to a supportive, purpose-led team environment that values collaboration, capability growth, and strong customer outcomes.
Candidate profile
- Prior experience managing workers’ compensation claims, with a solid understanding of legislation and statutory claims processes.
- Strong ability to influence and build relationships, along with clear and confident written and verbal communication.
- Customer-first mindset with a focus on positive outcomes for injured workers, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Proven resilience and good judgement when handling complex, sensitive, or high-pressure claim situations.
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving setting.
- Proactive and growth-oriented attitude, with willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team.
