About the role
JetBrains is looking for a Developer Advocate focused on the C/C++ ecosystem and CLion. In this position, you will combine technical depth, community outreach, and cross-functional collaboration to improve the experience and productivity of users working in systems and embedded C/C++ development.
The role calls for someone who can explain how JetBrains products support developer productivity in this space, and who can also feed real-world feedback and market insight back into the product organization. The team values candidates who are experienced, enthusiastic, empathetic, and eager to influence the product direction.
You do not need to bring every skill on day one; mentoring and support will be available as you settle into the role.
What you will do
- Present JetBrains products and capabilities through talks, videos, blog content, livestreams, sample code, and similar formats, with a particular focus on filling gaps in video content.
- Develop and nurture a strong reputation and network across local, regional, and global developer communities, including social channels.
- Partner with product teams by gathering and sharing user feedback and industry input.
- Meet customers to understand their needs and help them learn more about the company’s offerings.
- Represent the product publicly when speaking with press and media.
- Take on additional tasks across JetBrains when needed.
What the company is looking for
- At least 3 years of experience applying software engineering best practices, such as testing, refactoring, version control, logging, tracing, and debugging.
- Practical knowledge of C/C++ and the surrounding ecosystem.
- Hands-on background in embedded development and an interest in engaging with that community.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI-assisted approaches to software development.
- Strong spoken and written English skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly and tell engaging stories about technology.
- Good self-management, including goal setting and time management.
- Willingness to travel.
Preferred experience
- Familiarity with JetBrains tools.
- Prior experience in developer advocacy.
- A recognized presence in a developer community.
- Working knowledge of other programming languages such as Rust, Python, Java, or Kotlin.
- Experience working with highly distributed and diverse teams.
