About the role
The Hamilton manufacturing team is hiring a Die Setter to support production setup and changeovers. In this position, you will report to the Die Setter Supervisor and work alongside the Plastics Operations, Tool & Die, and Maintenance teams to keep presses, moulds, and die-sets performing reliably and efficiently.
This is a practical, high-responsibility role where you will help improve production uptime, product quality, and cost control by ensuring changeovers and machine start-ups are completed safely and accurately.
Shift pattern
- Day shift: 7:30am to 4:00pm
- Afternoon shift: 3:30pm to 12:00am
- Night shift: 11:30pm to 8:00am
Key responsibilities
- Perform safe and precise tool changes and start machines in line with production needs.
- Support product quality by ensuring output meets or exceeds specification and by helping resolve quality concerns.
- Use strong fault-finding skills to quickly address die and machine issues.
- Take part in Lean and SMED initiatives to cut waste and shorten changeover time.
- Plan work in advance, manage time well, and remain flexible across shifts when needed.
- Maintain strong standards in safety, 6S housekeeping, and team collaboration.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities within the Plastics team.
About you
You will be practical, hands-on, and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You should value accuracy, quality, and safe working practices, while also enjoying working as part of a team to keep operations running smoothly.
Ideal background and skills
- Trade qualification in die setting, plastics engineering, mechanical trades, fitter-welder work, or a related area, or equivalent experience with manufacturing tooling.
- Trade Certificate in Plastics Engineering, PAMPITO, or another relevant mechanical trade qualification.
- Experience in injection moulding or extrusion, preferably including die-setting duties.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
- Good planning, communication, and time-management skills.
- Working knowledge of Lean and SMED methods.
- Clear commitment to safety, quality, and ongoing improvement.
