Role Purpose

This position focuses on ensuring dependable and efficient operations across the switchyard and power transformer areas through strong maintenance execution. The role carries responsibility for safety, environmental compliance, sustainability practices, process enhancement and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. It also involves supporting digitalisation and automation initiatives to improve operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves overseeing maintenance and reliability activities for the 220 KV and 400 KV switchyard, power transformer area and related systems to maintain uninterrupted operations.

Maintenance planning and execution should include preventive, predictive and corrective approaches aimed at reducing downtime and improving equipment life.

The role includes planning and supervising annual overhaul (AOH) and complete overhaul (COH) activities, as well as handling maintenance during outages while ensuring safe delivery within timelines, budget limits and available manpower.

Repair and refurbishment of associated equipment must be managed to a high standard, along with monitoring the health and availability of circuit breakers, transformers, isolators and earthing systems.

Equipment failures must be investigated thoroughly, with root causes identified and corrective actions put in place to avoid repeat issues and improve reliability.

The position requires raising purchase requisitions for materials and services and completing service entry sheets for finished services.

Process and system improvements should be continuously identified and implemented in response to operational requirements and leadership direction.

Standard operating procedures, job safety analyses and standard maintenance plans must be updated regularly to match current best practices and site needs.

SAP should be used effectively for maintenance tracking, spare inventory management and closure of notifications in a timely manner.

Accurate inputs are required for necessary formal approvals related to license renewals, along with support in preparing reports for RCA, FMEA, ZFO and technical audits.

The role includes implementing actions from RCA, management of change, FMEA and zero forced outage reports to strengthen safety and operational outcomes.

Support is needed for liaison with government and system authorities such as SLDC, WRLDC, ALDC and NRLDC for planned shutdowns and related coordination.

Quality assurance support is required to ensure procured materials and equipment meet required standards.

Work allocation for business associates must be handled efficiently so that resources are used well and maintenance schedules are met.

The role also covers attendance and quantity verification support, report preparation for AOH and COH activities, and assistance with performance metric execution and budget-related requirements for equipment and services.

Training and development inputs must be provided for business associate capability building.

In the sustainability space, the role requires adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, CHETNA and other environment and safety guidelines.

Participation in mock drills, hazard control measures and emergency response activities is expected, along with maintaining legal and statutory compliance such as electrical licence and certification renewals.

Safety training must be conducted for business associates and employees, and complete equipment history records must be maintained so that issues and learnings are captured for future reference.

The position also supports digital transformation efforts by contributing to digitalisation plans and identifying automation opportunities that improve efficiency and support organisational goals.

Requirements

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
• At least 11 years of experience in electrical maintenance within power distribution.
• Background in power generation, transmission or distribution, especially in switchyard operations and maintenance, is preferred.

Additional Information

This is an on-site, full-time position based in Mundra, Gujarat, India.

The role requires coordination with internal departments, service departments and external contractors handling materials and services.

Responsibilities also include maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, timely licence renewals, and maintaining detailed records of equipment history and maintenance actions.
