Role overview

This six-month contract is for a Project Manager based in Dublin City Centre, with a hybrid arrangement of three days in the office. The assignment offers a day rate of 550 to 600. The successful person will provide an integrated delivery perspective across a range of digital application workstreams, covering on-premise systems, cloud solutions, Azure and platform dependencies, supplier delivery, operational readiness, and senior-level reporting.

This position is more than a basic project reporting assignment. It calls for close collaboration with Operations, Programme Management, Scrum Masters, technical leads, Business Analysts, QA, Helpdesk, service providers, and senior stakeholders so that delivery remains visible, actively controlled, and reported clearly.

The role does not call for a software developer or technical architect background. What is needed is a strong practical understanding of software delivery, application lifecycle management, Agile ways of working, release planning, and operational handover.

The role requires someone who can work comfortably with both delivery teams and senior stakeholders: understanding true progress, risks, and blockers on the ground, while also turning that into concise and clear executive updates.

Role objectives

  • Provide a unified view of delivery across the applications portfolio, including on-premise, cloud, and platform-related streams.
  • Help plan, monitor, and report on scope, quality, timelines, risks, dependencies, costs, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with delivery teams, Scrum Masters, technical leads, and service providers to keep milestones, blockers, and dependencies under active control.
  • Review and test delivery updates so that senior reporting reflects the real position, current risks, confidence levels, and decisions needed.
  • Support delivery planning from early initiation through deployment, release readiness, operational handover, and post go-live review.
  • Keep visibility of portfolio risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, decisions, and escalations up to date.
  • Align project delivery with operational readiness, helpdesk readiness, change management, and service transition.
  • Ensure senior stakeholders get plain-English updates on progress, risks, impacts, and required decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Programme Manager, Operations Director, and other senior stakeholders to maintain a combined portfolio view across application delivery workstreams.
  • Prepare, consolidate, and issue regular status updates for senior management and the agreed governance forums.
  • Keep a live view of milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, actions, decisions, and overall delivery confidence across the portfolio.
  • Work with Scrum Masters, technical leads, QA, Business Analysts, Helpdesk, and service providers to track real delivery progress and surface blockers early.
  • Bring supplier and service-provider updates into the wider portfolio picture, including timelines, risks, dependencies, and major deliverables.
  • Support planning and tracking across Agile/cloud delivery and more tightly controlled on-premise delivery environments.
  • Adapt governance to suit the delivery model, recognising that cloud, on-premise, and platform-dependent work may need different controls.
  • Monitor platform-related dependencies such as Azure, infrastructure, identity and access, security, testing, release, and operational readiness activities.
  • Maintain visibility of backlog and delivery priorities by ensuring key work items, blockers, milestones, and priorities are accurately reflected in reporting.
  • Build senior-level slides and written summaries covering progress, top risks, confidence levels, decisions required, and next steps.
  • Escalate risks, issues, and blockers promptly and constructively, with clear options and impact where useful.
  • Assist with portfolio cost and budget tracking, including monthly actuals and forecasts where needed.
  • Support release planning, deployment readiness, change coordination, support handover, hypercare, and post go-live review.
  • Work with the Helpdesk Lead and Operations team to make sure support impacts and user-facing readiness are understood before go-live.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, service providers, and relevant client stakeholders.
  • Help set up and maintain proportionate processes for status reporting, RAID tracking, action management, and decision logging.

Required experience and skills

  • At least five years of experience in project delivery, project management, portfolio coordination, or delivery management.
  • Hands-on experience supporting software, digital, application, cloud, or wider technology delivery.
  • Good working knowledge of the software delivery lifecycle, including requirements, backlog management, development, testing, release, deployment, and support transition.
  • Experience working with Agile teams, Scrum Masters, technical leads, QA, Business Analysts, and operational support teams.
  • Confidence operating in mixed delivery environments, spanning Agile/cloud delivery and more controlled on-premise delivery.
  • Strong capability in spotting blockers, managing dependencies, tracking actions, and following through to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear senior-level updates, presentations, RAID reports, and decision-oriented materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex delivery matters in straightforward language.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across senior leadership, suppliers, technical teams, and operational teams.
  • Strong focus on deadlines, governance, budget discipline, and delivery quality.
  • Ability to question unclear updates, weak milestones, unmanaged risks, or vague confidence statements in a professional and constructive manner.

Preferred experience

  • A professional qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, Scrum Master certification, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or comparable delivery and reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting Azure-based or cloud application delivery.
  • Experience working with service providers, managed service partners, or multi-supplier environments.
  • Exposure to release readiness, operational handover, service transition, hypercare, or post go-live reviews.
  • Experience with user readiness, training coordination, communications, or business change would be beneficial.
