Role overview
An established recruitment team is looking for experienced Project Schedulers to support a range of upcoming Defence and Federal Government programs in Canberra. The work sits across complex, multi-party environments where schedule accuracy, governance, and delivery alignment are essential.
The opportunity can be offered on either a permanent or contract basis, depending on the candidate’s preference and the needs of the project.
Key responsibilities
- Create, update, and manage integrated project schedules for large Defence and Government initiatives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, PMO teams, and technical stakeholders to keep timelines and dependencies aligned.
- Perform critical path reviews, track milestones, and map interdependencies across workstreams.
- Protect schedule quality and consistency through multiple reporting cycles and program areas.
- Prepare clear schedule updates for governance meetings and senior leadership.
- Spot delivery risks, slippage, and downstream impacts, and raise concerns when needed.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in planning and scheduling practices.
- Work within Defence and Commonwealth governance requirements and project controls.
Candidate profile
Suitable applicants will have a background in scheduling, project controls, or planning, ideally within Defence, Federal Government, or similarly regulated settings. Strong technical scheduling capability and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders are important.
Security and eligibility
- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
- Applicants must already hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, the necessary security clearance.
- NV1 clearance is highly regarded.
- NV2 or TSPV clearance is relevant for certain programs, with TSPV especially desirable for select engagements.
Tools and working style
Experience using scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6 is expected, along with a strong grasp of project governance, lifecycle delivery, and PMO operating models. The role also requires the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a high-complexity environment.
What’s offered
- Chance to support major Defence and Government programs.
- Engagement options across permanent and contract arrangements.
- Exposure to secure, high-impact national projects.
- Remuneration that reflects experience and clearance level.
