About the Role

A proprietary trading firm based in New York City is looking for a driven Quantitative Trader Intern to support its trading desk. The opportunity is aimed at students who are enthusiastic about markets, data-driven decision-making, probability, and working through uncertain outcomes.

In this role, you will partner with traders, researchers, and engineers to study market activity, generate trading ideas, and contribute to the development and improvement of systematic trading approaches. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, Finance, or another quantitative discipline
  • Strong capability in analytical thinking and structured problem-solving
  • Good grasp of probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling concepts
  • Programming background in Python, R, or a comparable language
  • Genuine interest in financial markets, trading, game theory, or competitive problem-solving
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative setting
  • High attention to detail and a naturally curious mindset
  • Preferred experience in data analysis, machine learning, optimization, or time-series modeling
  • Exposure to trading, investing, market microstructure, or financial derivatives is a plus
  • Familiarity with pandas, NumPy, SQL, or similar analytics tools is preferred
  • Experience in math contests, coding competitions, poker, chess, sports betting, or other strategy-driven activities is a plus
