About the Role
Crimson Global Academy (CGA) is a high-quality online school that delivers live, real-time learning to motivated students across the world. More than 1,000 students from 65 countries are already part of the community, and the mission is to help them unlock their full potential and build exceptional futures together.
The engineering team powers the systems behind a global virtual school, including the student and parent app and backend (CGA Home), internal sales and marketing tools, school operations tooling, and the public website. Engineers work very close to the product, the users, and the outcomes, so the impact of the work is visible and meaningful.
This senior role is suited to someone who cares deeply about the value great software can bring to a child’s education and who is eager to help improve both the products delivered and the way the team builds them.
What You Will Do
- Design and deliver CGA products across cloud, backend, infrastructure, and frontend components where required.
- Own complex technical challenges from initial problem framing through delivery, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Use test-driven development practices to help ensure completed work remains stable over time.
- Participate in architectural decisions and influence the team’s technical roadmap.
- Work closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders by giving accurate estimates, communicating transparently, and meeting agreed delivery dates.
- Improve CI/CD, testing, and deployment processes so releases are faster and safer.
- Track product health and act quickly when systems need attention.
- Support and mentor teammates, improve overall engineering quality, and demonstrate the team standards expected across the group.
Requirements
Essential qualifications and experience for the role include the following:
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong full-stack thinking, with substantial senior-level backend and infrastructure experience.
- Working fluency in the current stack, including HTML5/CSS, React, TypeScript, Node, Postgres, Docker, AWS, and Terraform.
- A proven record of shipping software in a mature CI/CD environment that you and your team can stand behind.
- Clear, direct communication and a collaborative approach that puts the team first.
- Comfort backing your commitments and delivering on what you promise.
- Interest in developing into technical leadership over time.
- Alignment with CGA’s values: helping students unlock their potential, continuously improving how things are built, and raising standards to create lasting impact.
Preferred Experience
- Background building education products or other consumer-facing products used by a global audience.
- Experience mentoring or supporting more junior engineers.
- Confidence operating production systems across multiple regions and time zones.
Why This Role Matters
Families rely on CGA for something deeply important, and the engineering team is responsible for the platforms that make that possible. The work you ship will support students and families around the world every day. If you want senior-level engineering work with meaningful real-world impact and a team that maintains high standards, this role offers that opportunity.
