About the Role
Join Kiwibank's Customer Verification - AML & Sanctions Team as an experienced financial crime analyst, where you'll expand your expertise in anti-money laundering (AML), combating financing of terrorism (CFT), transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and investigations linked to financial crimes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze alerts triggered by transaction monitoring systems to identify suspicious activities and document clear reasoning for decision outcomes.
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), including recommendations for further action.
- Evaluate international payments for potential sanctions hits and act accordingly to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the team to meet service-level agreements (SLAs) that guarantee adherence to AML/CFT and sanctions laws.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal departments and external agencies such as the New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit.
Candidate Profile and Required Skills
- Practical experience in AML/CFT, sanctions compliance, financial crime detection, or transaction monitoring within banking or financial services sectors.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT and sanctions regulations along with common financial crime patterns.
- Proficiency in drafting Suspicious Activity Reports and conducting thorough investigations.
- Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong analytical, research, and written communication skills.
- Capability to interpret legislative mandates and apply them effectively in business processes.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement with involvement in enhancing processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with confidence working across various stakeholders.
