Analytical Chemist

Overview

Tesla is seeking a dedicated and skilled Analytical Chemist to join the Refinery Operations team located in Robstown, Texas. This role reports directly to the Process Technology Manager and is essential in driving operational excellence by implementing process improvements. The primary focus will be to support the Quality Control Laboratory through the design and application of analytical methods tailored for process and quality oversight of the refinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine analytical chemistry methods that support refinery operations effectively.
• Evaluate analysis technologies and methodologies to assist the technology team in addressing process-related challenges.
• Identify opportunities to enhance QC laboratory efficiency and increase throughput.
• Recommend and execute process enhancements aimed at boosting plant performance.
• Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to discover and apply operational excellence initiatives throughout refining processes.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline, or commensurate experience.
• Between 2 and 5 years of relevant industry experience, particularly in chemical laboratory instrumentation and process improvement within chemical manufacturing settings.
• Ability and willingness to access manufacturing floor environments to directly observe and diagnose operational issues using fundamental principles and analytical tools.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and/or Lean Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of devising innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven adaptability to thrive in fast-moving and shifting priority environments.
