This position is part of the Demand Response Program within the Energy Services team, reporting to the Energy Services Director and coordinating closely with the Demand Response Program Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and recurring reports on demand-response performance metrics such as event count, thermostat and battery participation, estimated megawatt-hours (MWh), member savings, and comparative values versus previous years.
  • Ensure accuracy and validity of all reports and dashboards prior to dissemination.
  • Document reporting solutions thoroughly, including data sources, business logic, and update schedules.
  • Update reporting tools promptly in response to changes in data availability or program requirements.
  • Analyze event results, enrollment patterns, and forecasting precision to identify trends and outliers.
  • Provide datasets and views that support weekly scheduling, monthly bidding, and seasonal benchmarking decisions.
  • Create lightweight, self-service data connections (using Power Query, scheduled refreshes, and direct queries) to facilitate reporting and benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with the Energy Services team and Demand Response Program Manager to understand requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations.
  • Maintain communication on project progress and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist other departments with similar reporting and analytics tasks as time permits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in data analysis, business intelligence, dashboard creation, and data visualization concepts.
  • Skilled in working with relational databases, SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of electric utility systems, demand-response programs, and distributed energy resources.
  • Familiar with forecasting techniques, trend analysis, key performance indicators development, and documentation best practices.
  • Strong capabilities in data validation, quality control, and maintaining accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify technical data for nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization and time management, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets, detect patterns and anomalies, and present actionable recommendations.
  • Independent worker who collaborates well with interdisciplinary teams and adapts to evolving priorities.
  • Respect for confidentiality and the exercise of sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business, engineering, energy, IT, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification or at least two years of intensive experience with SQL, Power BI, and advanced Excel, especially Power Query.
  • One to three years experience in creating operational reports, dashboards, or analyzing related data.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in electric utility or cooperative environments.
  • Knowledge of demand response, distributed energy resources, or ERCOT data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Apolloware or similar utility software platforms.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
