It partners with a range of stakeholders to plan and deliver projects that strengthen community well-being and expand access to opportunity. Role Summary
The Data Entrant will handle the capture, updating, and upkeep of information across the organization’s systems and databases. This role involves transferring information from both paper and digital materials, checking records for completeness and consistency, spotting and fixing basic errors, and keeping files and records well organized. The position also supports data cleaning work and helps prepare straightforward reports or summaries for project teams. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Kampala, and the person in this role will work directly with program staff to keep data available, accurate, and timely for community initiatives.
Key Duties
- Enter information into designated systems and databases from paper-based and electronic sources.
- Review records to make sure they are complete, consistent, and correctly formatted.
- Identify routine data issues and make simple corrections where needed.
- Organize and maintain records so they remain easy to access and use.
- Assist with data cleaning and related preparation tasks.
- Prepare basic summaries or reports for project and program teams when requested.
- Coordinate with program staff to support reliable and timely access to data.
Qualifications
- Good analytical ability, with a basic grasp of data analytics for checking and interpreting community information.
- Working knowledge of data management practices, including storing and maintaining structured records and datasets.
- Ability to carry out simple data analysis tasks to support reporting and project monitoring.
- Awareness of basic data modeling ideas, or willingness to learn them to improve data structure and usability.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and data entry tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, or database applications.
- Strong focus on detail, dependability, and respect for accuracy and confidentiality.
- Clear communication and teamwork skills for working with colleagues and stakeholders from varied backgrounds.
- Secondary school completion is required; post-secondary training in statistics, IT, or a related area is an added advantage.
- Previous exposure to data entry, monitoring and evaluation, or administrative support in a community or nonprofit environment is helpful.
Additional Information
The role is based in Kampala, Central Region, Uganda. It is a full-time onsite position.
