About the Role
Join EY as a Data Migration Specialist at the Senior Consultant level, where you play a vital role in managing data migration projects for diverse clients. You will be involved in designing and executing comprehensive data migration strategies, ensuring data quality and governance standards are met to facilitate smooth data transitions. Although ideally located in the Wellington office, candidates from Auckland are welcome to apply. Flexible work arrangements with reduced hours may be discussed.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of data migration projects including discovery, planning, execution, reconciliation, and post-migration tasks.
- Assist in developing and implementing migration methodologies and deliverables throughout project stages.
- Convert business and functional needs into specific data migration outputs such as mappings and transformation rules.
- Help design and document migration workflows, processes, and technical details.
- Collaborate with senior colleagues to apply effective migration patterns, tools, and reconciliation methods.
- Engage with both technical and business teams to uphold data governance, quality, and ownership protocols.
- Conduct data analysis to evaluate quality, identify issues, and support corrective measures.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance during all migration activities.
- Keep project leads informed regarding progress, risks, and potential challenges.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
- Assist in developing reusable migration templates, accelerators, and related assets.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements, tools, and best practices in data migration and management.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Experience supporting end-to-end data migration, including planning and reconciliation phases.
- Familiarity with data migration design concepts and ETL/ELT processes and tools.
- Exposure to modern data platforms and analytics tools such as Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Python, and Power BI.
- Understanding of data governance principles including data quality, ownership, and controls.
- Ability to analyze datasets for quality issues and assist in remediation.
- Skill in documenting data mappings, processes, and workflows.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data processing frameworks.
- Strong communication abilities to work effectively with teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality outcomes.
- Capability to manage tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms is advantageous.
