About Halter
Halter is working to help farmers and graziers run more productive and sustainable operations. Its platform replaces time-heavy conventional grazing practices and is already helping customers change how they manage cattle and pasture. The company is driven by meaningful impact, ambitious problem-solving, and a high-performance culture where people are expected to work hard, care deeply, and keep improving.
Backers include Tier 1 investors such as Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, and Icehouse Ventures.
About the Role
This role owns global intent-led demand capture for Halter. The focus is on Google Ads and SEO: attracting farmers who are actively looking for solutions, reducing wasted spend, and improving organic visibility end to end.
The role also covers the emerging search surface where people ask AI systems rather than traditional search engines. You will monitor visibility, citations, and share of voice in AI answers, then work on content and site structure to improve discovery there.
This is a highly precise role centred on query intent, efficient budget use, and qualified lead generation. You will work closely with the content team to address SEO opportunities and with the website owner on technical SEO and page speed so the site both ranks well and converts.
You will report to the Performance Marketing Lead and be accountable for the channels’ contribution to lead and pipeline targets. AI is expected to be a core part of your workflow for keyword research, content briefs, competitive analysis, and reporting.
What You Will Be Doing
- Review search term reports and asset performance across the NZ, AU, and US Google Ads accounts to remove wasted spend, refine negative keywords, and identify unmet intent.
- Assess Halter’s organic rankings for priority topics such as virtual fencing, ranch data, and drought resilience, then brief content changes to close ranking gaps.
- Track how Halter appears in AI tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity for virtual fencing-related questions, and improve content to earn citations and visibility.
- Partner with the website owner on technical SEO and page-speed improvements that support rankings and paid traffic performance.
- Run competitor-focused search initiatives designed to capture demand from prospects who are comparing options.
- Report channel efficiency to the Performance Marketing Lead, including CPL, CAC, and recommended search budget allocation.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has directly owned paid search and SEO performance against measurable business outcomes, not just managed ad spend. Precision, intent-led thinking, and a focus on minimising waste are essential.
You should be confident working across paid search, organic search, and AI-led search surfaces, understanding how these channels support one another. You will not be expected to build every asset yourself, but you must be able to brief content and technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
A strong analytical mindset is important. You should be comfortable working with search term data, rankings, and efficiency metrics, then turning insights into action.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Running efficient, intent-driven demand capture across Google Ads and SEO in three markets.
- Thinking with precision rather than broad reach, and consistently eliminating wasted spend.
- Managing paid search, organic search, and AI search as one connected system.
- Briefing content and website teams effectively so SEO and technical improvements are delivered through others.
- Using AI tools as part of everyday workflow to work faster and improve output quality.
Bonus Experience
- Experience with paid search and SEO in a high-growth SaaS, hardware, or ag-tech business.
- Exposure to multi-market search strategy and how it changes by region.
- Experience working with content teams to build compounding SEO systems.
- Experience improving visibility in AI answer engines, including GEO/AEO, LLM citation tracking, or related approaches.
- Strong knowledge of technical SEO, page performance, and the relationship between site health, ranking, and paid efficiency.
Benefits
- Access to snacks and drinks at work.
- Southern Cross Health Insurance support.
- 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers.
- 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave, plus other family-support benefits.
- Annual $1000 self-development budget.
- Wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.
- A remuneration package that includes salary, benefits, and employee stock ownership.
Office-First Working Style
Halter’s culture is built around in-person connection. The company operates on an office-first basis because it believes collaboration, feedback, learning, and strong relationships are strengthened by being together.
The approach is office-first rather than office-only: working from the office is the default, with flexibility when needed. The environment is high trust and designed to support growth, impact, and continuous learning.
Application Information
Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every requirement. Halter values diverse backgrounds and welcomes people who believe they can contribute strongly to the role.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the role and in working at Halter, along with a CV.
