Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

About the Role

Occupli is looking for a seasoned Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Planner to join an embedded contractor assignment at a large-scale industrial facility in Cork, Ireland. This position supports an established maintenance and engineering team, focusing on planning and coordinating E&I maintenance efforts to improve work readiness and facilitate the safe, efficient completion of maintenance jobs.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed maintenance work plans covering job scope, labor allocation, materials, tools, and specialist needs for electrical and instrumentation tasks.
• Assist in planning and scheduling preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities.
• Evaluate work requests and translate them into executable maintenance plans.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Instrumentation, Maintenance, and Operations teams to guarantee work readiness.
• Identify necessary permits, isolations, safety documentation, and other supporting information before task execution.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date planning records within computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Support backlog management by prioritizing and optimizing maintenance work.
• Engage with contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate and ensure efficient delivery of planned maintenance work.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
• Ensure all work planning complies with site safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as an E&I Planner, Maintenance Planner, Electrical Planner, or Instrumentation Planner in industrial settings.
• Background working in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemicals, Energy, Utilities, or Process Manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices.
• Experienced in preparing maintenance job plans and comprehensive work packs.
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms, ideally SAP PM.
• Ability to interpret technical documents like P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication abilities fostering collaboration among engineering and operations personnel.

Desirable Qualifications

• Prior experience in refinery or high-hazard process industries.
• Background in planning for turnarounds or shutdowns.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, isolation protocols, and maintenance safety management.
• Experience working in regulated industrial environments.
