Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor

Overview

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor at Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP), you will oversee a team comprising Electrical Maintenance Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, and Planners to implement and advance the power systems maintenance strategy ensuring reliable plant operation.

Key Duties

• Offer expert technical assistance to electrical maintenance teams and related departments in maintaining a broad range of electrical equipment such as steam turbine generators, emergency diesel generators, transformers, switchgear from 480V to 230kV, UPS and battery chargers, as well as both HV and LV variable speed drives (VSD) and motors to maximize plant availability and maintain equipment integrity.
• Lead, mentor, and guide electrical maintenance personnel and contractors in effective maintenance execution and oversee qualification, certification, and accreditation initiatives for staff.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including current equipment technical records and drawings, updated maintenance histories, preventive maintenance reports, and proper archiving and backup of configuration and software changes related to electrical assets.
• Champion safety within the department by embedding safety procedures into all tasks, equipment handling, and processes to foster a robust safety culture.
• Generate regular detailed reports on electrical system performance indicators, maintenance KPIs, and departmental performance metrics.
• Develop job specifications and cost estimates for outsourced maintenance, assess vendors and contractors technically, participate in contract negotiations, and identify opportunities for optimizing contracts.
• Identify and implement innovative improvements in productivity, efficiency, sustainability, and digitalization by analyzing maintenance KPI data to enhance wrench time and overall maintenance effectiveness.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCAs), examine corrective maintenance work orders to accurately identify defect causes.
• Collaborate closely with Area Maintenance Foremen, OEMs, and vendors to revise and update maintenance work instructions reflecting field maintenance feedback.
• Review electrical maintenance plans to detect potential constraints on planned maintenance execution, evaluate preventive maintenance deferment requests, and contribute to turnaround scope planning.
• Oversee commissioning and testing of electrical equipment, directing site functional tests, and approving sign-offs.
• Engage in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), energization activities of substations, and manage equipment handover processes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant maintenance experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or comparable sectors, including 3 to 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Familiarity with international and local standards such as IEEE, IEC, NFPA, and Grid Code is beneficial.
• Demonstrated skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical equipment failures along with knowledge of field testing for new installations.
• Experience using SAP Maintenance Module.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Highly motivated, dedicated to teamwork, and able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
