About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Facilities Maintenance Technician / Building Engineer to join our team supporting Corteva Agriscience operations in Kauai. This contract role, lasting at least 12 months, is based at 1-385 Kaumualii Highway, Waimea, HI. The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Ideal candidates are hands-on problem solvers who enjoy maintaining a broad range of building systems and environments including office, laboratory, warehouse, agricultural, and field sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general upkeep, repairs, and maintenance of various facilities.
- Diagnose and fix issues with plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry tasks, painting, drywall, doors, windows, and locks.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance inspections and complete scheduled work orders.
- Support maintenance for HVAC, irrigation, generators, and other utility systems.
- Install shelving, signage, office furniture, fixtures, and other building equipment as needed.
- Assist in facility improvement projects, renovations, and construction activities.
- Operate company vehicles, tools, equipment, lifts, and light machinery safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate activities with contractors and onsite vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Respond promptly to facility-related issues, ensuring safe and functional work environments.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and assist in meeting safety compliance standards.
- Support grounds maintenance and infrastructure upkeep as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- At least three years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, construction, or property upkeep roles.
- Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems is necessary.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Capable of working independently and managing priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Trade certifications or vocational training in relevant disciplines such as electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry.
- Experience working in industrial, commercial, agricultural, hospitality, or research facility environments.
- Exposure to using lifts, light machinery, and specialized maintenance tools.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance schedules and work order management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and laboring in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Capable of bending, kneeling, crouching, and engaging in physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
- Willing and able to work safely under different weather conditions.
