About the Role
Unite Students, part of the Unite Group dedicated to creating supportive student accommodation, is seeking a Facilities Team Member to join the team at Oldgate House in Huddersfield. This permanent position offers 30 hours per week, working 4 days out of 7 within the hours of 8am to 8pm, including weekend shifts on a rotating basis. The role comes with a salary of £21,400 annually and requires a valid full UK driving license.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out various maintenance duties including joinery, plastering, basic plumbing, electrical repairs, and reactive tasks to ensure the property is secure, safe, and well-maintained.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations by performing safety monitoring, responding swiftly to related issues, and following established procedures rigorously.
- Offer exceptional customer service by engaging positively with students and colleagues, addressing maintenance requests and feedback in a helpful, approachable manner.
- Utilize digital tools, such as PDA applications, to log maintenance issues precisely and complete scheduled inspections, reporting necessary repairs to the appropriate engineering personnel.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings a proactive and curious attitude with a strong commitment to continuous learning and problem-solving. Previous experience in maintenance and customer-facing roles is important, along with effective communication skills and the ability to handle diverse daily tasks efficiently. Compliance with health and safety standards and possession of a full UK driver’s license are essential.
