General Manager - P&L

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned and commercially astute General Manager to oversee and drive the full scope of operations, profitability, and strategic growth of a prominent Money Exchange firm in Doha, Qatar. This permanent senior leadership position carries complete Profit & Loss accountability. The role involves enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, spearheading business expansion, and leading digital transformation efforts. Experience within Money Exchange, Banking, Foreign Exchange, or Financial Services sectors is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Take total ownership of business performance, including Profit & Loss, financial results, and strategic planning.
• Formulate and implement strategies aimed at sustainable revenue enhancement and profitability.
• Develop and oversee annual budgeting, financial projections, and performance metrics.
• Identify and pursue new growth prospects, branch development, and diversified income sources.
• Supervise operational performance and efficiency across multiple branches and business functions.
• Enforce operational guidelines, establish internal controls, and promote continuous process optimization.
• Ensure strict adherence to Qatar Central Bank regulations, anti-money laundering, know your customer, counter financing of terrorism, sanctions screening, and corporate governance standards.
• Maintain robust risk management frameworks and ensure preparedness for audits.
• Foster and manage strategic alliances with banks, regulatory bodies, corporate clients, and other key stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives for digital innovation including fintech integration, remittance platform upgrades, and process automation.
• Guide, mentor, and develop senior leadership talent, promoting a culture focused on high performance.
• Guarantee top-tier customer service and effectively handle critical escalation cases.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• At least 20 years of comprehensive professional experience.
• A minimum of 10 years in Money Exchange, Foreign Exchange, Banking, Remittance, or related Financial Services.
• Minimum 5 years holding a senior leadership role with complete Profit & Loss responsibility such as General Manager, Country Head, or Business Head.
• Prior work experience in Qatar or the Gulf Cooperation Council region is strongly preferred.
• Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or closely related fields.
• An MBA or other Master's degree is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of Money Exchange operations, foreign currency transactions, remittance services, and financial products.
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and P&L oversight.
• Strong familiarity with Qatar Central Bank regulatory framework including AML, KYC, CFT, sanction screening, governance, and risk protocols.
• Experience leading digital transformation and implementing fintech and automation solutions.
• Excellent commercial acumen, strategic foresight, financial management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
