Role Overview

The position of Head Bartender is a full-time, on-site role located in Nairobi. This role involves managing all bar-related activities such as preparing and serving drinks, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety protocols. The Head Bartender will lead and mentor bar staff, coordinate seamlessly with floor and kitchen teams, and oversee cash handling and the closing of the bar daily.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages while upholding quality standards.
• Manage and monitor bar inventory efficiently to avoid shortages or excess.
• Ensure the bar area remains clean, safe, and compliant with safety regulations.
• Train, supervise, and motivate bar staff, including scheduling shifts appropriately.
• Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems and reconcile daily sales.
• Collaborate with management and other teams to enhance the drink menu and overall guest experience.
• Engage with customers courteously to provide excellent service and promptly address any concerns.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Demonstrated excellence in customer service and effective communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with bartending duties and food and beverage service operations.
• Strong competency in cash management and point-of-sale system operations.
• Leadership experience in training and managing bar personnel.
• Comprehensive knowledge of beverage types, cocktail preparation, and responsible alcohol service; certifications in bartending or hospitality are beneficial.
• Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in a senior or head bartender role within a busy restaurant or bar setting.
