About the Company and Role
Aggregate Design Studio, situated in Central Alberta, operates as an outsourced design studio under the guidance of registered architects. The studio specializes in delivering design solutions to clients, owners, and contractors across commercial, industrial, agricultural, and multi-residential sectors.
This full-time, year-round position based in Blackfalds, Alberta, focuses on precise, detail-oriented design work that brings conceptual ideas to tangible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead interior design projects from initial concept through to completion of construction.
- Develop space planning, creative design concepts, and select finishes and fixtures.
- Create and maintain 3D models, produce high-quality renderings, and prepare presentation materials working alongside a technologist.
- Prepare detailed construction documentation including floor plans, ceiling layouts, elevations, and finish plans.
- Research and specify finishes, furniture, millwork, and architectural products.
- Collaborate with architectural teams, project managers, sales, consultants, and tradespeople.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
- Interpret and apply building codes, accessibility standards, and industry regulations.
- Develop practical and buildable solutions to design and construction challenges.
- Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure design compliance.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Ensure high accuracy and quality control of deliverables, including work by yourself and any supporting technologists.
- Maintain design resource libraries and organize materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers during project delivery.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or degree from an accredited Interior Design program.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in interior design.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Skilled in producing quality 3D renderings for presentations.
- Knowledgeable of building codes, construction methods, detailing, and systems.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Capable of independent work while contributing collaboratively within a team.
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and have reliable transportation.
- Available for a standard Monday to Friday workweek, working a minimum of 40 hours with possible overtime flexibility.
Preferred or Asset Skills
- Experience with cabinetry or millwork design.
- Exposure to specialized design areas such as signage, flooring, or lighting.
- Understanding of design psychology and user experience in interior spaces.
- Diverse project experience across commercial, industrial, agricultural, and multi-residential developments.
- Background knowledge of construction processes and collaboration with trades.
- Familiarity with immersive visualization tools like Enscape.
- Knowledge in precast concrete construction methods.
