The Role and Team
You will join Carta's North America Contracts team, part of Carta Law—the largest AI-powered law firm specializing in private capital. The team combines legal professionals and AI to deliver rapid and consistent investor onboarding, transaction KYC, and high-volume legal support. As a Law Clerk, you may rotate among or focus on one of three specialized practice areas according to your strengths and interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers by conducting initial reviews and markups of investment-related NDAs and commercial agreements.
- Manage document lifecycles, monitor deadlines, liaise with counterparties, and facilitate contract execution processes.
- Collaborate closely with lawyers and senior paralegals to ensure high-quality client service in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Develop both commercial and legal knowledge, with opportunities for client account ownership and career progression towards Bar qualification.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably holds a bachelor's degree in law or equivalent qualification; experience with NDAs or KYC practices is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Highly motivated and curious, aiming to expand expertise in legal compliance, contracts, or fund management.
- Efficient and well-organized, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines without compromising attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear, professional, and concise guidance to clients.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Collaborative team member who works effectively with colleagues in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from 66,400 to 83,000 CAD annually in Toronto, with equity options for all full-time employees.
