Position Location and Overview
This position is based at RNZAF Ohakea Base in New Zealand, specifically supporting the King Air fleet within Jet Aviation's Defence sector. The role demands hands-on expertise with a focus on maintaining safety, quality, and compliance with New Zealand Defence Force, Civil Aviation Authority, and Jet Aviation standards. It is a full-time onsite role offering a stable career opportunity with global industry recognition.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure all maintenance operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and meet requisite standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and apprentices alongside the Team Leader.
- Stay up-to-date with CAA and NZDF regulations and disseminate relevant updates to team members.
- Adhere to and maintain compliance with base security, training, and health requirements.
- Utilize only authorized tools, equipment, materials, and maintenance documentation under approved procedures.
- Keep maintenance data current, accessible, and aligned with the latest revisions.
- Complete and supervise accurate maintenance certification and documentation compliant with regulatory demands.
- Report promptly any issues impacting flight safety and support related investigations and corrective measures.
- Engage in safety, quality, audit, environmental, housekeeping, FOD prevention, compliance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Monitor hangar and facility conditions and escalate concerns as needed.
- Perform other duties as required to support operational objectives.

Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a valid Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence from CAA New Zealand with proper ratings or equivalent overseas qualifications suitable for NZ CAA recognition or conversion.
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Aviation Act, associated rules, and advisory circulars.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Impeccable attention to detail with professionalism and discretion.
- Committed to safety and capable of thriving in a regulated environment.
- Beneficial knowledge includes New Zealand Defence Aviation Regulations, ISO9001, ISO45001 systems, customer service orientation, initiative, accountability, and teamwork.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Annual salary package ranging from NZD 100,000 to 115,000.
- Additional benefits include KiwiSaver contributions, overtime pay, allowances, bonuses, and relocation assistance where applicable.
- Relocation support for both domestic and international moves, including visa sponsorship for suitable international candidates subject to regulatory approval.
