Mechanical Engineer

Overview

This role sits within a growing industrial and manufacturing portfolio in New Zealand, where the focus is on delivering high-value, multi-disciplinary engineering work for major clients. The position combines mechanical engineering expertise with project delivery responsibility across concept development, costing, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.

What you will do

• Take ownership of small to medium projects and help ensure they are delivered to client and business expectations.
• Apply mechanical engineering knowledge in an industrial setting, including detailed mechanical and piping design, technical specification development, and drawing control.
• Work as part of a multi-discipline project team while building the confidence to lead and manage future assignments.
• Move into client-facing work and develop toward roles such as project engineer, project manager, or commissioning manager.
• Travel to client and project locations across New Zealand to gain practical exposure to industrial mechanical plant, machinery, and automation and control systems.

What you will bring

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering accredited under the Washington Accord.
• At least 4 years of experience in a similar role.
• Some background in project management, with a clear interest in building that capability further.
• Strong technical understanding of hygienic and pressure piping design, surge analysis, pipe stress analysis, and hydraulic analysis.
• Knowledge of PECPR requirements, AS/NZS 1170, and the ASME B31 code suite, or closely related standards.
• Exposure to piping software such as AutoPIPE, PIPE-FLO, or comparable tools, or a willingness to learn them.
• Availability and willingness to travel to site as needed.
