Role Summary
The Metalworking and Forging Machine Operator will be accountable for setting up, programming where applicable, operating, and maintaining CNC and conventional sheet metal fabrication equipment. Equipment managed may include CNC Brake Presses, Fiber Laser Cutting Systems, CNC Turret Presses, and general sheet metal fabrication machines. The primary goal is to produce precise components that meet engineering requirements while maintaining production flow and contributing to ongoing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly program, configure, and operate the assigned sheet metal machinery according to production needs and engineering documentation.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and digital work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor machine operations to identify and implement process efficiencies.
- Perform routine maintenance and machine adjustments within operator duties.
- Maintain production timelines by executing tasks effectively with minimal downtime.
- Report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and production challenges promptly.
- Accurately log production data, inspections, and materials usage via digital manufacturing systems.
- Manage material traceability and support inventory accuracy through correct handling and documentation.
- Assist with tooling setup changes, organize workspaces, and apply Lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, procurement, and manufacturing teams to address production problems.
- Engage in continuous improvement projects that focus on enhancing safety, quality, and throughput.
- Comply fully with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-centered manufacturing culture.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience operating CNC sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of brake presses, fiber lasers, turret presses, and CNC machinery for sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and fabrication standards.
- Strong grasp of manufacturing tolerances and quality protocols.
- Mechanical aptitude with effective troubleshooting skills.
- Capability to work autonomously and within team settings.
- Basic computer literacy and enthusiasm for utilizing digital manufacturing tools.
- Forklift or overhead crane operation experience is a plus.
