About Tillamook Estuaries Partnership
Tillamook Estuaries Partnership (TEP) is a nonprofit organization focused on restoring the estuaries and watersheds of Tillamook County, Oregon. Their work integrates active land stewardship, scientific research, community involvement, and educational efforts.
Role Overview
The Native Plant Scientist will manage TEP's native plant nursery program. This role is critical for producing genetically suitable native plants supporting restoration projects across the region, including the Oregon Coast. The nursery produces over 50,000 plants annually, using seeds collected from about 40 different species. Collaboration with programs like Seeds of Success, the Coastal Native Seed Partnership, and the Northwest Oregon Restoration Partnership ensures plants reach restoration sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete propagation cycle, including field scouting, seed collection, transplanting, and distribution to partners.
- Provide expert horticultural and botanical guidance within the nursery program.
- Secure grant funding to support the nursery's activities.
- Develop and implement protocols to enhance plant quality and production efficiency.
Application Instructions
Applicants should include a summary of their experience with plant propagation or wild seed collection that details species handled, scale of work, and personal role. Applications are accepted until 5:00 pm Pacific Time on Friday, July 24th. Early submission is encouraged as the position may close upon receiving enough qualified applications. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
