PLC Programmer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to prepare and review control and automation specifications according to client requirements. The role involves supporting the ICA Lead in managing engineering design for Control System Architecture, Data Communication Networks, PLC/DCS, SCADA, and related areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop programs for PLCs such as Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, ABB using Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), and Function Block (FB) languages.
• Design control systems following communication protocols and cybersecurity standards.
• Generate technical documentation including system architecture, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, termination drawings, loop drawings, and I/O lists.
• Manage hardware packages and procurement with tasks like preparing technical specifications, clarifications, and bid analysis.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to achieve project goals.
• Review and liaise with subcontractors to ensure design compliance with project standards.
• Support project activities such as scheduling, progress tracking, and claims with cross-functional teams.
• Oversee site installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and plant proving related to control and automation systems.
• Respond to client feedback and secure approvals for design, installation, and testing works.
• Address and resolve technical issues encountered onsite.

Design and Engineering Scope

• Engage in design, engineering, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), installation, testing, and commissioning of System Control PLC/DCS and SCADA.
• Handle Input/Output listings and Data Communication Networks along with ICA panels.
• Manage instrumentation and conduct FAT and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for panels, instruments, pumps, etc.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Control, or equivalent.
• Proven experience in selection, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation.
• Background in ICA engineering work; experience in water or wastewater projects is advantageous.
• Proficiency in programming PLC/DCS and SCADA using Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, and Function Block languages.
• Familiarity with various PLC brands such as Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, ABB in both hardware and software aspects.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards; certification in cybersecurity is a plus.
• Experience in ICA panel design is beneficial.
• Capability in project execution, supervising and coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Competency in AutoCAD 2D; experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD 3D is an advantage.
• Technical understanding of water, wastewater, and environmental engineering projects is a bonus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively under tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Minimum three years of relevant control system programming experience; candidates with over five years may qualify for a senior role.
