About the Role and Organisation

This position is exclusively for current NHS employees and is available as a fixed-term contract lasting four months. The successful candidate will take a senior leadership role within the NHS North West Race Equity Assembly, spearheading initiatives to tackle racism and health disparities throughout the NHS in the North West region.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead the development and expansion of the Assembly's Anti-racist Framework, providing advisory support to NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to help them achieve accreditation at bronze, silver, and gold levels. Managing the assessment process comprehensively, you will promote the integration of anti-racist practices across leadership teams, workforce development, and patient care services. As part of your role, you will design innovative, evidence-based programmes, enhance regional partnerships, oversee governance and reporting to ensure accountability and lasting impact, and drive collaborative actions for race equity.

Collaboration is essential, as you will work alongside the Membership and Business Support Administrator to boost member engagement and ensure that the perspectives of lived experience shape the Assembly’s work. You will also advise on policies relating to race equity, present analytical insights from data, and engage stakeholders such as staff networks and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) leads to co-produce initiatives. Additional responsibilities include budget management, project oversight, and income generation to support the organisation's sustainability.

Organisational Vision and Values

The NHS North West strives to provide outstanding mental health and learning disability services across Greater Manchester’s boroughs, including Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, and Tameside and Glossop. The organisation is committed to fostering a hopeful and joyful life for the communities it serves, with a strong emphasis on delivering exemplary care. Embracing diversity and inclusivity, the employer welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those with lived experience of mental health challenges.
