About the Role and Organization

Join the City of Windsor, a vibrant municipality located in Southwestern Ontario, known for its beautiful waterfront parks, temperate climate, and diverse, innovative workforce. The City is currently seeking a Project Coordinator for a temporary full-time position within the Engineering Department to manage construction projects and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, administration, and management of construction contracts and projects, coordinating activities among contractors, consultants, City personnel, and other professional services.
  • Develop project budgets, monitor financial performance, track revenues, and control expenditures throughout all project phases.
  • Engage and coordinate with external agencies, boards, committees, and government bodies including Provincial, Federal, and utilities to ensure compliance and smooth operations.
  • Prepare procurement documentation, including detailed drawings and specifications, and research and implement innovative products, maintenance strategies, and construction best practices.
  • Coordinate commissioning processes of new spaces and equipment, including updating City’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assess feasibility and life-cycle costs of projects; analyze historical data; prepare comprehensive technical, financial, and progress reports related to property and facility maintenance and construction.
  • Estimate construction costs supporting capital budget planning; pursue grant opportunities, manage grant requirements, and ensure all project financials align with approved budgets.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Corporate policies on Health & Safety, Risk Management, relevant legislation, regulations, and codes.
  • Perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the City's Health and Safety program and travel to off-site project locations as required.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or related discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial environments dealing with building systems, facility maintenance, building codes, project management, blueprint reading, or construction design; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with a minimum of 2 years’ related experience; OR
  • Community College diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or related field with no less than 4 years’ experience in similar environments.
  • Valid Class G driver's license and a clean driving abstract as per the Highway Traffic Act for operating City vehicles.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings.
  • Capability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously at various stages.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and familiarity with AutoCad, Revit, Bluebeam considered advantageous.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety Act and associated hazards relevant to the role.
  • Required to complete and maintain certifications such as Management Windsor Certificate Program; supervisory program credentials are preferred.
  • Professional designations like P.Eng, CET, RPA, FMA, SMA, CFM, or PMP are considered assets.
