Project Director

Role Overview

An established civil contractor is looking for a seasoned Project Director to take charge of a major civil infrastructure tender in New Zealand. This is a senior leadership role suited to someone who has successfully delivered complex infrastructure works and handled significant bids from early planning through to award.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the tender and bid lifecycle for a large infrastructure opportunity.
• Oversee the commercial, technical, and planning elements of the submission.
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate and guide the project team during the tender stage.
• Assess project risks and put forward workable mitigation measures.
• Remain involved after award to help transition the project into delivery.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.
• At least 15 years of experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in a Project Director, Senior Project Manager, or equivalent leadership role.
• Proven involvement in leading large-scale bids or tenders.
• Solid experience across earthworks, roading, and concrete works.
• Experience on wind farm projects is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and commercial decision-making abilities.
