Project Engineer, OPSENG

The Amazon Projects team requires deep expertise in managing the entire project lifecycle, encompassing assessment, design and detailing, execution, and performance qualification phases.

This role involves site selection in coordination with the Real Estate (RE) team, adhering to statutory and legal project compliances, ensuring safety during design and execution, managing value for large and medium-scale projects, and executing diverse technical projects including greenfield, brownfield, and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of multiple building formats specifically for the East India region.
• Manage the establishment of new centers, capacity expansions, and relocations according to business demands.
• Drive project management initiatives such as standardization, energy conservation programs, and productivity improvements.
• Oversee project financial processes to ensure budget adherence.
• Support RE team by performing site visits and feasibility assessments for potential facility locations.
• Develop conceptual layouts and evaluate them from operational perspectives.
• Prepare the developer’s scope of work according to Amazon’s standards and specifications.
• Estimate Amazon’s scope of work costs and prepare build-out capital expenditure requests for approval.
• Select project management consultants and plan resource allocation accordingly.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to evaluate and finalize project vendors.
• Review material requirements across stakeholders, monitor receipt and implementation.
• Monitor progress and manage onsite execution of Amazon’s scope of work.
• Ensure quality control over developer deliverables.
• Facilitate a snag-free handover to the Facilities team.
• Coordinate with the launch team for site readiness near project completion.
• Ensure safe execution on-site targeting zero lost time injuries (LTI) and strict budget compliance.
• Prepare weekly status reports and progress updates.
• Manage timely project closure including commercial reconciliation.

Performance Metrics

• Project execution with on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery achieving greater than 95% on-time launch of facilities.
• Maintain budget discipline with no cost overruns greater than 95% of projects.
• Ensure safe execution with zero lost time injuries for all projects.
• Achieve over 95% compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
• Complete and implement assigned project management initiatives fully and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent engineering discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
