Purchase Executive

Role Overview

We are seeking a Purchase Executive with over 4 years of experience and a mechanical diploma to manage procurement activities efficiently at Balmer Lawrie Van Leer Limited in Bengaluru. The position is focused on sourcing materials, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring timely availability of goods for production.

Primary Duties

• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on criteria such as quality, pricing, service, and reliability.
• Create and process purchase orders aligned with drawings, bills of materials, and production needs.
• Keep supplier data, pricing, and delivery schedules current.
• Coordinate with internal teams including production, stores, and accounts to understand purchasing requirements.
• Oversee purchase orders to guarantee prompt delivery of materials.
• Negotiate prices and contract terms to maximize cost efficiency.
• Maintain thorough documentation of procurement and vendor interactions.
• Monitor inventory alongside the stores team to prevent shortages or excess stock.
• Evaluate vendor performance and assist in their development initiatives.
• Handle issues concerning delivery delays, quality problems, and billing discrepancies.
• Assist with audits by supplying necessary procurement documents.
• Be willing to travel locally and interstate for vendor development, audits, and follow-ups.

Required Expertise & Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in procurement.
• Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Kannada.
• Good understanding of procurement procedures and supply chain operations.
• Knowledge of sheet metal press tool manufacturing materials and processes.
• Ability to interpret basic mechanical drawings and material specifications.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with SAP or inventory management software.
• Basic understanding of taxes, pricing, and commercial terms.

Additional Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and Word.
• Awareness of local suppliers and market trends relevant to the industry.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of safety, compliance, and quality documentation within automotive supply chains.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 standards.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience sourcing steel, BOP, cutting tools, machining parts, inspection gauges, and press tools.
• Familiarity with local markets for tool steels, structural steels, machining vendors, and industrial consumables.
