Overview

Our client, a prominent clinical and commercial biologics Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) located in Tustin, CA, is seeking a Research Associate for upstream process development. This pivotal role involves supporting the development, enhancement, and scale-up of mammalian cell culture processes critical to biologics manufacturing. The successful candidate will contribute to translating innovative therapies from early-stage development to commercial manufacturing.

Key Duties

  • Design, develop, and refine mammalian cell culture processes targeting recombinant protein production optimization.
  • Maintain and propagate mammalian cell lines including CHO, HEK, NSO, and associated expression platforms.
  • Conduct studies focusing on media formulation, feed screening, and overall process improvements to boost cell growth and yield.
  • Operate and troubleshoot various bioreactor systems such as shake flasks, wave bioreactors, and stirred-tank bioreactors.
  • Aseptically prepare cell culture media and feed solutions from foundational components.
  • Analyze cell growth metrics, productivity parameters, and nutrient uptake using Excel and supplementary analytical tools.
  • Compile technical reports, summarize data, prepare presentations, and document processes to fulfill project and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to facilitate process scale-up and transfer into manufacturing environments.
  • Investigate and incorporate emerging technologies and methodologies to elevate upstream development efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a similar scientific field.
  • Minimum 2 years' professional experience in mammalian cell culture, upstream process development, or related bioprocess fields.
  • Proven hands-on expertise with mammalian cell lines and aseptic culturing protocols.

Additional Information

This opportunity does not provide visa sponsorship or support for immigration-related processes such as H1B, TN, E-3 visas, CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, or permanent residency.
