Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Security Department ensuring effective management and leadership.
• Create, implement, and continuously enhance security policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Guarantee comprehensive security coverage throughout all hotel facilities including events, dining areas, parking, and guest rooms.
• Carry out regular patrols and inspections to detect and mitigate security risks.
• Manage access control for guests, employees, contractors, and suppliers to ensure safety.
• Maintain a visible security presence on-site to deter incidents and promote guest confidence.
• Conduct frequent risk assessments and implement necessary preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan health, safety, and fire regulations alongside Accor’s standards.
• Lead emergency preparedness efforts including evacuation plans, fire drills, and crisis response simulations.
• Investigate incidents such as accidents, theft, fraud, and security breaches, documenting reports and suggesting improvements.
• Work continuously to reduce operational risks via improvement initiatives.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate security team members, fostering professionalism and accountability.
• Organize departmental meetings and support staff development with regular feedback.
• Ensure all security personnel adhere to grooming and professional standards.
• Provide a safe environment that enhances guest experience and promptly addresses security concerns.
• Collaborate with the People & Culture department in employee-related investigations as necessary.
• Promote ongoing safety awareness through training and communication to all employees.
• Build strong relationships with department heads to proactively manage security issues.
• Ensure adherence to Accor's operational standards, brand guidelines, and local laws.
• Keep detailed security records including incident logs, investigations, audits, and key controls up to date.
• Prepare security performance reports on a weekly and monthly basis highlighting key trends and recommendations.
• Manage departmental budgeting effectively, including cost control and maintaining necessary licenses and certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Security Management, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
• Professional security management certification is advantageous.
• Certifications in First Aid, Fire Safety, or Emergency Response are desirable.
• Membership in recognized professional security organizations is a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in hotel security, including 3 years in supervisory or managerial roles.
• Experience managing security in large hotels or multi-property environments preferred.
• Proven expertise in crisis management, investigations, and emergency response coordination.

Additional Information
