Job Overview

Seize the opportunity to lead transformative efforts and drive tangible business outcomes as a Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement. This position works directly with top leadership to design strategy, spearhead Lean projects, and streamline processes organization-wide. You will supervise a team of improvement experts, collaborate with senior leaders, and ensure operations are refined to maximize efficiency and productivity.

The role involves guiding the strategic planning using Hoshin Kanri/Policy Deployment, selecting key areas for enhancement, managing change initiatives, and evaluating project impacts.

This is a remote role requiring substantial travel—up to 75% of the time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Hoshin Kanri strategic planning at segment, business unit, or plant levels, crafting A3 charters alongside planning teams to implement initiatives.
  • Apply Value Stream Mapping and Extended VSM techniques to redesign business, logistic, and manufacturing processes; oversee or direct teams for implementing future state VSM plans including relocations and new system integrations such as SAP.
  • Mentor and develop continuous improvement specialists, fostering their professional growth and leadership capabilities.
  • Serve as a Lean Trainer within the Hubbell Manufacturing System and Lean Certification program, also cultivating new trainers.
  • Analyze current processes to discover inefficiencies and opportunities to optimize operations.
  • Lead change management to ensure effective adoption and integration of improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior executives to secure resources and support for improvement projects.
  • Partner with Plant Leadership to sustain the HMS Performance Management program featuring tiered Gemba walks, issue escalation, problem-solving, and accountability monitoring.
  • Use data and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of improvement efforts and make informed decisions.
  • Manage a portfolio of improvement projects aligned with company goals, tracking progress and results.
  • Implement quality controls to guarantee improvements enhance product and service standards.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on continuous improvement activities and their impacts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Operations, Industrial, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 15 to 20 years of relevant experience required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma roles.
  • Minimum 4 years in technical leadership positions with proven management and leadership skills.
  • Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt certification is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement programs and systems.
  • Strong leadership ability to influence others through teaching, leadership, and practical demonstrations of Lean methodologies.
  • Excellent time management skills, capable of prioritizing and completing multiple tasks.
  • Proven results orientation with accomplishments in fast-paced environments.
  • Preferred skills in process improvement and data analytics.
