Software Developer - Backend Cloud Platforms

Position Overview

Join Autodesk as a Software Developer focused on backend development for large-scale cloud platforms. This role is ideal for early-career professionals eager to enhance their skills in building and maintaining next-generation cloud services that support Autodesk’s global Consumption platform. You will contribute to the development of reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient microservices in a collaborative environment guided by experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement backend features and bug fixes, ensuring code is secure, reliable, maintainable, and backed by unit tests and thorough documentation, all while receiving mentorship.
• Gain practical experience in building and optimizing microservices and event-driven components powering Autodesk’s Consumption platform.
• Engage in code reviews actively to both provide and receive constructive feedback, ensuring adherence to best coding practices and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives under guidance, while contributing to accurate task estimation.
• Identify and resolve common coding issues and escalate complex problems appropriately, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
• Support production deployments, basic operational activities, and monitoring as part of owning end-to-end service lifecycle with oversight.
• Employ Agentic AI-assisted programming tools responsibly to boost productivity and maintain code quality according to team standards.
• Contribute to the team’s collective knowledge base through maintaining documentation, writing tests, and enhancing the developer experience progressively.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education/training.
• Strong grasp of fundamental computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, networking, and an introduction to distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or Go.
• Basic knowledge of version control (Git), testing methodologies, and RESTful or event-driven service architectures.
• Clear communication skills, a cooperative work approach, and eagerness to learn and seek guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship, research, or project experience related to backend development or cloud services.
• Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud services including Lambda, Fargate, SQS, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
• Understanding of microservices, real-time data streaming, and containerization technologies like Docker.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, basic observability tools such as metrics and logging, and security best practices for service development.
• Interest in designing for cost efficiency, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.

Compensation and Benefits

For roles based in Canada, Autodesk offers a competitive base salary ranging from 72000 to 105600 CAD annually, depending on experience and location. This package may also include performance bonuses, stock grants, comprehensive benefits, and other incentives.
