Role Overview

Joining Notion as a new graduate AI engineer means contributing to core user experiences and developing AI-powered features that enhance productivity. The role offers increasing autonomy, ownership of significant projects, and opportunities to influence our AI vision using advanced technologies like large language models (LLMs), embeddings, and other AI tools.

Team Focus Areas

• Develop AI-driven product features including user experience, APIs, retrieval, orchestration, and reliability.
• Enhance model integration and infrastructure focusing on latency, cost efficiency, safety, and robustness.
• Build evaluation frameworks and implement testing methods to improve model and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to prototype and deliver AI-enhanced product improvements.
• Own projects that introduce new models or techniques, incorporating monitoring, latency improvements, or cost optimizations.
• Participate in evaluation cycles by creating test sets, running experiments, analyzing outcomes, and driving improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Having completed previous internship experiences.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Typescript, React, Python, or comparable languages.

Desired Skills and Attributes

• Comfortable rapid prototyping and iterative development with some AI/ML exposure via projects or internships.
• Basic understanding of databases like Postgres or MySQL and the ability to transition prototypes into functional features with guidance.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical and inquisitive approach.
• Effective written and verbal communication, eager to collaborate and learn publicly within cross-functional teams.
• User-focused mindset, valuing building impactful, user-centered features.

Additional Advantages

• Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, or similar technologies.

Compensation

Notion offers competitive salary packages based on location, role complexity, and candidate experience. For San Francisco-based roles, the expected base salary ranges from $126,000 to $146,000 per year.
