Team Overview

The Cisco Wireless Feature & System Engineering team crafts comprehensive wireless solutions covering access points, controllers, and cloud-based management systems. They focus on designing features that integrate device software, control mechanisms, and management tools to deliver enterprise-grade Wi-Fi with excellent security, performance, and seamless operation.

Role Impact

In the role of Wireless Radio Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and integration of radio firmware and driver components. Your work will enable Wi-Fi functionalities and guarantee system-wide performance and reliability. Key tasks include designing and implementing radio firmware and driver features, developing and integrating Wi-Fi features, troubleshooting intricate problems across firmware, driver, and system layers, analyzing radio frequency behavior, packet flows, and protocol interactions. You will work intimately with chipset suppliers to resolve firmware and driver issues, contribute to validating systems and optimizing performance, and utilize AI-driven tools to advance development, debugging, and analytical tasks.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus around 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with about 5 years' experience
• Proficient in C and C++ programming languages
• Solid understanding of 802.11 protocol standards and wireless feature sets
• Experience in firmware or driver development at a low level
• Strong debugging capabilities spanning multiple layers from firmware through driver to system
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking concepts and packet-level operations
• Capability to independently own feature development from start to finish

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with platforms such as Qualcomm, Broadcom, or MediaTek
• Hands-on experience with packet capture, radio frequency troubleshooting, or performance optimization
• Exposure to contributing upstream device driver code
