About the Role
Outrider is in search of a Technical Program Manager to oversee intricate, multi-disciplinary engineering projects that support autonomous vehicle development and client implementations. This individual will serve as the operational lead, harmonizing efforts across hardware, software, systems engineering, robotics, autonomy, product management, manufacturing, field operations, and safety teams to achieve shared program objectives.
The role is accountable for managing projects from initial concept through deployment, effectively balancing diverse priorities while attentively handling technical risks, interdependencies, schedules, and communications with stakeholders. The position reports directly to the Director of Technical Program Management and Test Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer cross-departmental engineering initiatives from conception to launch, guaranteeing the achievement of technical benchmarks across disciplines including software, hardware, product, safety, manufacturing, and field operations.
- Detect early-stage technical, operational, and timeline risks, formulate risk mitigation approaches, and drive issue resolution to keep initiatives on track.
- Manage program dependencies between engineering groups, actively removing obstacles and aligning priorities to sustain forward progress.
- Oversee hardware prototype construction, software version releases, integration phases, and validation procedures to ensure preparedness for testing and customer deployments.
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to create program plans, set milestones, and enforce accountability for deliverables.
- Track program status using metrics, dashboards, and key performance indicators, delivering clear updates to engineering leadership and senior management.
- Conduct technical design and program reviews, facilitate cross-functional planning sessions, and ensure proper documentation and communication of decisions, actions, and risks.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive program schedules that align engineering tasks with business objectives and customer commitments.
- Champion continual enhancement of program management methods by standardizing planning procedures, reporting, documentation, and execution frameworks.
- Create scalable operational processes to boost cross-team collaboration, enhance organizational efficiency, and support consistent engineering delivery.
- Act as a liaison among multiple technical teams, balancing conflicting priorities while focusing on program goals and deadlines.
- Promote a culture centered on accountability, openness, and operational excellence by fostering proactive communication, ownership, and data-driven decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Technical Program Management
- Background in robotics, autonomous vehicles, automotive, industrial automation, aerospace, or complex hardware/software products
- Familiarity with Agile and traditional development methodologies
- Proven experience coordinating concurrent hardware and software development
- Strong technical proficiency along with excellent executive communication capabilities
- Ability to function independently within a dynamic and technically complex environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 to $140,000 annually, subject to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and location factors
