Watchroom Operator

About the Role

Ventia is seeking multiple Watchroom Operator professionals to join its Fire and Rescue operations located at RAAF Base Wagga. This position is open within a contract supporting Rescue & Fire Fighting services across multiple Australian states including WA, SA, VIC, NSW, and QLD. The role serves as a career opportunity in emergency services and the defence industry or as an entry point towards becoming a firefighter.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain operational readiness in alignment with Ventia's established policies and guidelines.
• Dispatch and coordinate fire crews responding to incidents at the fire station, liaising with the Incident Controller as needed.
• Support the Officer in Charge (OIC) with administrative tasks related to station operations.
• Take part in the ongoing training and development programs at the fire station.

Mandatory Qualifications

Candidates must hold one qualification in each of the following five PUAs categories (including equivalent superseded versions):

• PUAFIR210 Prevent Injury
• PUAOPE013 Operate Communication Systems and Equipment
• PUATEA001 Work in a Team
• PUACOM001 Communicate in the Workplace
• PUATEA002 Work Autonomously

Desirable Experience and Additional Requirements

• Previous experience working in a communications room is highly preferred.
• A strong team-oriented approach.
• Eligibility to obtain Defence Security Clearance up to Negative Vetting Level 1. Applicants must be Australian citizens.
