Role Overview

We seek a senior Aerospace Simulation Engineer expert to contribute to the development, testing, and upkeep of simulation models targeting intricate avionics systems. The role involves deriving component models, conducting system simulations, performing validation, executing system identification, undertaking comprehensive software testing, and providing technical assistance to engineering teams employing these simulation models.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced aerospace or space engineer proficient in simulation methodologies, familiar with writing efficient, maintainable code, and experienced with Matlab/Simulink or similar modeling platforms.

Position Details

• Contract type: Contractor agreement
• Work commitment: Full-time, multi-year engagement
• Location: Onsite in Friedrichshafen, Germany, with relocation assistance provided
• Requirements: Must hold an EU passport and possess fluency in English; knowledge of German is advantageous

Primary Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and verify component models for avionics simulation systems
• Maintain and enhance the broader system simulation infrastructure
• Develop code to support model evaluation, analysis, and produce relevant reports
• Conduct structured testing on both personal and peer-developed software implementations
• Ensure all codebases exhibit clean architecture, with thorough documentation and traceability
• Collaborate closely with subject matter experts for model derivation, updating, and validation
• Perform system identification on component and system-wide models using empirical test data
• Support engineering teams in utilizing these models for verifying flight control software and executing concept design studies
• Critically assess and enhance technical concepts, methodologies, tools, and workflows

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Over 5 years of professional experience within the aerospace or space industries
• Demonstrated expertise in simulating complex avionics systems related to aerospace or space applications
• Proficient in deriving, implementing, testing, and validating simulation models
• Experienced in software testing practices, maintaining code quality, and producing technical documentation
• Skilled in leveraging test data for model validation and system identification processes
• Familiarity with the SimTG Modeling Framework is highly regarded
