Application Engineer - Pumps (Oil & Gas)

Job Overview

NAFFCO invites applications for the position of Application Engineer specializing in Pumps for the Oil & Gas sector. The role focuses on supporting the development of techno-commercial proposals for pump packages and firefighting systems tailored to the industry. The engineer will manage technical bid assessments, pump system selection, proposal formulation, client communications, and ensure adherence to project requirements, international standards, and client expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze Requests for Quotations (RFQs), inquiry documents, client specifications, datasheets, and tender documentation to discern technical and commercial prerequisites.
• Conduct technical sizing and selection for centrifugal, firefighting, jockey pumps, and related accessories in alignment with project criteria.
• Compile detailed technical proposals, cost estimations, quotations, and related submittals.
• Assess project specifications to confirm conformity with client requirements, contractual commitments, and global standards.
• Create documents addressing technical clarifications, deviations, and client inquiries during proposal stages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Project departments to ensure timely and accurate proposal delivery.
• Engage in technical discussions with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and inspection bodies.
• Provide ongoing technical assistance from pre-award through post-award phases whenever necessary.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to gather technical data, pricing, and certification documents.
• Maintain thorough records of technical data, proposals, and project correspondence per company protocols.
• Keep abreast of industry standards, client-specific technical requirements, and new technologies related to pumping and firefighting solutions in Oil & Gas.
• Ensure proposals are prepared to meet internal quality standards and submission timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in application engineering, proposal engineering, or technical sales support within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Preferably experienced in pump package selection and firefighting system applications.

Technical Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of centrifugal, firefighting, jockey, and diesel engine-driven pumps, including auxiliary systems.
• Knowledgeable about NFPA 20, API standards, and other pertinent international codes governing pump systems.
• Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, General Arrangement drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, and tender documents.
• Experienced in drafting technical submittals, compliance declarations, deviation reports, and techno-commercial proposal documents.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with AutoCAD and specialized pump selection software is an advantage.
