Role overview
Weedmaps is looking for an Associate Creative Director, Design to shape and advance the brand’s visual direction across campaigns, social channels, editorial experiences, lifecycle marketing, product storytelling, and AI-enabled creative workflows. This position blends creative direction, visual narrative building, and systems-oriented thinking. The role is responsible for steering concept creation, building repeatable design frameworks, mentoring creative team members, and working with cross-functional partners to produce distinctive, relevant, and effective creative across customer touchpoints.
Key responsibilities
- Direct visual creative work for brand campaigns, social media, editorial initiatives, lifecycle marketing, creator collaborations, and product storytelling.
- Develop and refine Weedmaps’ visual identity and design guidelines across channels and platforms.
- Create campaign ideas, visual frameworks, and reusable creative systems that strengthen audience engagement and business results.
- Ensure all creative output meets a high standard for quality, consistency, and cultural relevance.
- Work with Editorial, Social, Lifecycle, Growth, Product Marketing, and Studio teams to turn strategy into strong visual execution.
- Build modular, scalable design structures that can be adapted quickly across multiple channels.
- Guide social-first creative for Instagram, TikTok, short-form video, and other emerging formats.
- Collaborate with Production teams to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
- Identify and apply AI-assisted design methods that improve speed, scale, and creative output.
- Stay current on design trends, online culture, platform behavior, and new technologies.
- Lead and support designers, freelancers, contractors, and production partners.
- Coach creative talent through feedback, mentorship, and growth planning.
- Review and approve work to ensure it aligns with brand expectations and project goals.
- Help define team processes, quality standards, and review systems.
- Partner with Creative Leadership on staffing, resource planning, and workflow priorities.
- Promote a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and creative excellence.
- Contribute to the company’s broader creative vision and organizational growth.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in design, art direction, or creative leadership.
- A portfolio showing strong work across campaigns, social content, digital storytelling, and brand systems.
- Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary creative projects across several channels and platforms.
- Solid command of typography, layout, motion, visual storytelling, and contemporary design systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in fast-moving creative environments.
- Strong understanding of social-first creative development and platform-native content.
Preferred qualifications
- Background in building scalable design systems and creative frameworks.
- Exposure to AI-assisted creative tools and workflows.
- Experience with lifestyle, entertainment, media, technology, or cannabis brands.
- Good grasp of creator ecosystems, internet culture, and audience behavior.
- Motion design, video storytelling, and creative production experience.
- Interest in cannabis culture, community, and emerging consumer trends.
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary for this role is between $143,000 and $169,229.
