Overview
The Associate Developer & Business Analyst role is an entry-level technology position focused on aiding application development, analyzing business processes, and supporting various technology projects within the organization. This position blends basic software development abilities with business analysis skills to drive improvements in operational efficiency, enhance user experiences, and align technology solutions with business strategies.
The individual will engage collaboratively with Business Technology Partners, developers, infrastructure staff, Information Security, and other business stakeholders to gather and document requirements, develop and test software solutions, support applications, and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.
This role is ideal for candidates with a solid Computer Science education and enthusiasm for technology who want to grow both their technical and business expertise while making meaningful technology contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, document, and validate both business and technical requirements from stakeholders.
- Map out business processes, workflows, use cases, and user stories to back technology initiatives.
- Participate actively in stakeholder meetings and workshops to uncover business issues and propose technological solutions.
- Analyze and suggest automation and process improvements.
- Collaborate with Business Technology Partners to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Assist with technology research, software evaluations, and solution assessments.
- Support development, customization, configuration, and enhancement of internal applications.
- Contribute to coding, scripting, automation, and integration tasks under senior developer guidance.
- Engage in design discussions, providing insights into technical strategies and solution possibilities.
- Develop reporting tools such as dashboards, data extracts, and workflow automations.
- Help perform software testing, quality assurance, and defect fixes.
- Maintain source code repositories, technical documentation, and uphold development standards.
- Adhere to secure coding practices aligned with organizational security policies.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for business applications, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root cause analyses.
- Monitor application performance and suggest enhancements.
- Assist with software upgrades, deployments, and release processes.
- Keep system documentation, knowledge base articles, and support procedures up-to-date.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal groups to resolve technical challenges.
- Produce and maintain business requirement documents, technical specs, process maps, and user guides.
- Support project documentation, status reports, and tracking activities.
- Assist with governance, audit, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to established IT standards, procedures, and documentation practices.
- Contribute to IT organizational continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related discipline.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in software development, business analysis, application support, or related technical roles; internships also considered.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software development fundamentals.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or SQL.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts.
- Experience using source control and project management tools like Git, Azure DevOps, or GitHub.
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 technologies including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Awareness of data modeling, database concepts, and reporting principles.
- Knowledge of API integrations and web technologies is advantageous.
