Beach Crew Member

Position Overview

San Diego Bike & Kayak Tours is seeking enthusiastic and physically fit individuals to join as Beach Crew Members in La Jolla, CA. This part-time role involves engaging with kayak tour and rental participants on the beach, assisting with kayak launching and retrieval in the surf, and supporting equipment transport and upkeep. It demands an active pace and hands-on work primarily on the beach.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers by helping launch and retrieve kayaks through the surf.
• Load and unload kayaks and related gear from trucks, transporting equipment to and from the beach.
• Provide guidance to kayak rental customers by reviewing water maps and answering basic inquiries.
• Prepare the beach and shop for opening and closing, managing setup and takedown of equipment such as kayaks, paddles, wetsuits, snorkel gear, and helmets.
• Maintain cleanliness by performing janitorial tasks including mopping floors and cleaning gear.
• Follow boat launch regulations and directions from beach managers and lifeguard ambassadors to ensure safety and compliance.
• Perform basic repairs on equipment as needed.
• Drive company trucks safely and responsibly to support equipment delivery.
• Assist customers with special needs, providing excellent customer service during their beach experience.

Requirements

• A physically demanding, fast-paced role requiring endurance and energy.
• Valid California driver's license is mandatory to operate company vehicles.
• Ability to safely drive trucks loaded with kayaking equipment.
• Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with guests.
• Willingness to perform diverse tasks including beach setup, equipment maintenance, and janitorial duties.
