About the Organization

The Betsy Lehman Center is a vibrant state agency dedicated to advancing healthcare quality, safety, and outcomes in Massachusetts. It collaborates with various state health entities, providers, and consumers through its programming, research, policy, and communications efforts. Named in memory of a Boston Globe health columnist who passed due to a preventable medical mistake, the Center operates alongside the state’s Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA).

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a proactive Communications Program Coordinator on a contract basis, expected to contribute 35-40 hours weekly through approximately June 30, 2027. The role reports to the Director of Communications and involves delivering coordinated communications services and project-based outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and schedule meetings with internal and external partners, prepare relevant correspondence, distribute agendas, record notes and minutes, and manage follow-up tasks.
  • Create, draft, edit, and format diverse communication content for Center staff review including newsletters, flyers, reports, social media posts, educational materials, and website copy.
  • Develop compelling visual materials such as videos and infographics for dissemination via newsletters, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Assist Center personnel in producing online events and Zoom webinars.
  • Support the communications team in crafting marketing and communications strategies aimed at report distribution and program awareness enhancement.
  • Perform additional coordination or communication-related duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Self-driven individual eager to contribute meaningfully within a small, mission-focused team.
  • Strong professional communication skills for effective interaction with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Interest and basic understanding of public health; familiarity with patient safety or government-related work is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or Premiere is beneficial.
