Communications Technician

About the Role

Prime is looking for a skilled Communications Technician / Data Cabling Electrician to join our expanding Technology & Communications team. This role involves working on projects including commercial construction, data centres, critical infrastructure, and major developments. It is an ideal position for a driven technician who values delivering superior workmanship and technical proficiency.

Key Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of A Grade Electrician certification.
• Holds valid Australian Open Cabler Registration (ACMA Registered Cabler).
• Endorsements in Structured Cabling, Fibre Optics, and Coaxial systems.
• Proven experience in testing and commissioning both copper and fibre communications networks.
• Extensive familiarity with Fluke test apparatus, preferably the DSX CableAnalyzer.
• Skilled in operating fibre testing instruments such as OLTS and OTDR.
• Competence in fibre optic fusion splicing and managing fibre enclosures.
• In-depth knowledge of structured cabling standards, including Cat6, Cat6A, and fibre optic systems.
• Ability to accurately interpret construction plans and communications-related documentation.
• Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and diagnosing faults.
• Capability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
