Contracts Advisor

Role Overview

We are looking for a strategically minded and results-driven individual to join our Supply Chain team in a temporary Junior Contracts Advisor capacity. This position will primarily focus on material and service contracting, managing the entire contract lifecycle while fostering strong partnerships with business units and suppliers. The goal is to drive measurable improvements in cost efficiency, risk reduction, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather business needs and translate them into effective sourcing and category plans aligned with corporate goals and asset strategies, emphasizing cost efficiency and value enhancement.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for cost reduction through market research, supplier engagement, demand oversight, and category spend analysis.
• Utilize data-driven insights to question existing specifications, service models, and commercial arrangements in order to secure sustainable savings.
• Lead complex sourcing-to-contract processes ensuring a balance between cost, performance, and risk mitigation in service acquisitions.
• Develop creative commercial frameworks and negotiation tactics to increase competitive advantage and reduce expenses.
• Oversee all stages of contract management including planning, strategy formulation, negotiation, contract execution, and handling claims or warranty issues.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience combining commercial and technical roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in cost optimization methods, cost modeling, and total cost of ownership evaluations.
• Strong commercial acumen with advanced analytical and negotiation capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of cost drivers, contracting models, and risk control in complex service markets.
• Familiarity with SAP, Ariba, and spend analytics platforms to assist in sourcing and cost optimization efforts.

Additional Information

• This role is office-based at our Calgary head office.
• Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
• The position is temporary, lasting 3 months.
