Role Overview
The Controller will play a pivotal role by leading Alimentiv's accounting division strategically and operationally. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller governs the complete accounting cycle, including financial statement compilation, ERP system management, tax and audit compliance, and handling payables, receivables, and procurement processes. As Alimentiv expands globally with a complex multi-entity framework, this role ensures solid financial controls and systems that support reliable business decisions. Distinct from financial planning roles, this position emphasizes accurate accounting operations and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly and annual closing activities, including consolidations, journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP or IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Guarantee correctness and completeness of financial reports for senior management, CFO, and external parties.
- Review and validate financial data from the accounting team, resolving discrepancies before report distribution.
- Lead preparation of audit-ready financial statements and documentation for regulatory and governance requirements.
- Monitor close schedules, proactively resolving delays to meet deadlines.
- Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risks.
- Own and administer the ERP platform with responsibility for configuration, data accuracy, and ongoing enhancements to support accounting functions.
- Identify and remedy ERP system issues, supporting workflow efficiency and data consistency.
- Lead ERP projects including updates, module rollouts, and integration testing in collaboration with IT and Finance.
- Create and update ERP user manuals and procedures for uniform and compliant usage by the accounting team.
- Explore ERP features to automate tasks, boost data quality, and scale operations.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, credit, collections, and expense management to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Approve vendor payments within authority limits and manage resolution of payment or collection issues.
- Track aging reports and cash flow to manage receivables actively and detect risks early.
- Confirm expenses adhere to corporate policy with timely review and approval.
- Implement improvements in AP, AR, and expense processes to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Ensure tax compliance across jurisdictions by coordinating with external advisors on filings and regulations.
- Handle external audits by preparing documents, coordinating audit inquiries, and addressing findings promptly.
- Manage transfer pricing arrangements, ensuring documentation is current, compliant, and defensible.
- Stay updated on tax law changes, recommending policy or process adjustments.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and advisors on tax matters affecting compliance and finances.
- Monitor and manage fixed assets including tracking, valuation, depreciation, and disposition in line with accounting policies.
- Support procurement processes ensuring approvals and record accuracy within delegated limits.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team by providing clear guidance, ongoing performance feedback, and career development.
- Plan and allocate work effectively to match accounting team capacity with operational needs and closing schedules.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in accounting roles.
- Bachelor’s degree and CPA certification required.
- Preferred experience in global, multi-entity environments, especially contract research or professional services sectors involving US, EU, LATAM regions.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS standards, consolidations, and multi-entity accounting.
- Expertise in tax compliance, audit administration, and transfer pricing in multi-jurisdictional settings.
- Proven leadership in managing accounting teams including workload planning and professional growth.
- Hands-on ERP administration experience including configuration, data governance, and system integrations.
- Competency in managing payables, receivables, credit, collections, fixed assets, and procurement controls.
- Strong analytical abilities to diagnose financial discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Exceptional thoroughness and precision in financial data preparation and review.
