Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and inquisitive Data Analyst to join our team. The role entails managing the entire data lifecycle, including data acquisition, cleansing, analysis, and visualization, to produce meaningful insights that inform business strategies. You will write SQL queries, develop automated data workflows, and design engaging Power BI dashboards utilized by stakeholders. Collaborating with various departments to translate their questions into actionable analytical outputs is key.
Primary Responsibilities
- Craft, optimize, and sustain SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data from diverse sources.
- Examine extensive datasets to uncover trends, insights, and potential opportunities.
- Create, support, and refine interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI, employing DAX for calculations.
- Deliver scheduled and ad hoc reports tailored to business needs.
- Automate repetitive data-related tasks using Python, including data cleansing and analysis.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of data pipelines and ETL workflows.
- Utilize Azure tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse for effective data storage and processing.
- Maintain data accuracy, uniformity, and integrity in reporting outputs.
- Identify and rectify discrepancies and quality issues in datasets.
- Adhere to and enhance data governance policies and documentation standards.
- Engage closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure their data needs are met.
- Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document analytical processes, data terminologies, and report logic for team reference.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries, including joins, aggregations, and preferably stored procedures and views.
- Proficiency in Python for automating data workflows and detailed analysis, with libraries such as pandas and NumPy.
- Ability to build Power BI dashboards and reports, including advanced data modelling and use of DAX formulas.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel functions, pivot tables, lookups, and data modelling capabilities.
- Familiarity with Azure data services and cloud infrastructure relevant to data management.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to present complex data clearly.
- Organized approach with capability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
Desired Additional Skills
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-203, or DP-700.
- Understanding of data warehouse architecture and ETL/ELT pipeline methodologies.
- Experience with version control tools like Git and Agile development practices.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related numerical fields, or equivalent hands-on experience.
